Two years ago, Google added the ability to add a working location to your Google Calendar. This feature was incredibly helpful for those that began working from home during the pandemic. Fast forward to today and Google is improving the feature to meet the flexibility of the current workforce.
Google has now added multiple locations to Google Calendar.

This change allows you to set up multiple locations for any given day, and time, on your calendar. If you are a hybrid worker, you might spend part of the day at the office and part in your home office. Maybe you spend more of your time in your mobile office (i.e. your car) moving from place to place. Google Calendar can handle that.
Imagine this scenario: you’re in the office for part of the day, then you’re off to a client meeting. With this slick new feature, your colleagues will know exactly when and where to find you – and what your current availability is.

Even better, if you have a personal assistant you can delegate access so they can update your calendar for you – either for your whole day or just portions of your day. That’s a nice touch of granular control.
Google’s mantra is all about working smarter, not harder. They understand that many of us are still working remotely or splitting time between the home and corporate offices. This update is geared toward the workforce of today.

So how do you get this new feature? Google has already been rolling it out to all levels of Workspace accounts. It will be on by default for any admin, but the standard end users will have it off by default. You can switch it on or off easily to match how much information you want or need to share.
The account licenses that receive this feature are:
- Google Workspace Business Standard/Plus
- Enterprise Standard/Plus
- Education Fundamentals/Standard/Plus
- The Teaching and Learning Upgrade
- Nonprofits
Unfortunately, personal accounts don’t have this feature. If you don’t have a Workspace license, now might be the time to consider it. Just make sure to compare the alternative to see which solution would be right for you.
