1. Click on the button below to sign in to your Microsoft account.  The sign in page will open in a new tab.

2. On the Sign In page, enter your email address and click Next.

3. On the following page, enter your password and click Sign in.

Set up your security info using the wizard

1. Next, you will need to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device.  Click on the “Download Now” link on the “Keep your account secure” page to download app from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.  Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, click Next.

2. Launch the Microsoft Authenticator app, tap on the 3 dot menu and select “Add account”.  Your experience may be different depending on your mobile device and version of the app.  For account type, choose “Work or school account” or “Other”.  Click Next in your browser window to generate a QR code that you will need to scan in the next step.

3. After selecting “Work or school account” or “Other” from the previous step, your mobile device should automatically launch your camera.  Hold up your camera to the QR code on your browser window to scan.  After the QR code is scanned, you should now see the new account added to the list in the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device.  Click Next.

4. Once you click Next on the previous screen, a notification will be sent to your mobile device asking to “Approve sign-in?”  Tap on “Approve” on your mobile device.

5. Once you’ve approve the notification on your phone, the web page on your computer will update with a message that says, “Notification approved”.  Click Next to continue.

6. Success!  You have successfully set up your security info and enabled MFA through the Microsoft Authenticator app.  This page will show you all the devices you’ve set up for MFA.  Click Done to continue.  You will now be automatically redirected to the Security Info page.

Add an additional authentication method

1. On the Security Info page, you will see the Microsoft Authenticator listed along with the name of your mobile device.  You will now need to add a second method of authentication as a backup.  Click on the “Add method” link.

2. From the drop-down in the pop-up window, select Phone and click Add.

3. On the next page of the pop-up window, select your country from the drop-down, enter your phone number, select the “Text me a code” radio button and click Next.

4. A text message will be sent to the number you provided with a 6 digit code.  Enter the code on the next page on the pop-up screen and click Next.

5. The Security Info page will now refresh and you should see both of the authentication methods that you added.  Click on the “Overview” tab on the left to change your password.
